Relaxation with the support of touch

Relaxation
Your body holds tensions and contractions. This somatic armoring is a natural response to stress or fear. Sometimes, these contractions can wall-us off from appreciating our selves, others, and the more-than-human world. We miss breath and birdsong, and are further cut-off from things. So, relaxation is not just for our self. It is also a way to open to others and to a broader world.
Relaxation is not forcing contractions away. It is listening to them and allowing them to resolve on their own. Our organism has its own intelligence. Relaxation is attuning to this intelligence, which opens to the intelligence of the ecosystem.
The support of touch
Sense: Is there a part of your body that is particularly tense, tight, blocked, or hurting?
Is there a physical sensation that is calling for your attention?
Remember, the body knows in different ways than your thinking mind.
Take your time, close your eyes, feel into your body with gentle, present, curiosity. Let your thoughts melt into your body.
(pause)
After some time, bring a very soft and gentle touch to this tense part of your body by softly placing your palm and fingers on that body part.
Close your eyes and rest with this simple touch.
(pause)
When it feels right, now gently use your open palms to gently rub all over the surface of your body, wherever you would like.
Especially, rub your closed eyes, jaw, skull....and then down to wherever there is tension.
(pause)
Then, if you would like, massage your hands—with one hand massage the other, then switch.
Many of us hold a lot of tension in our hands because of texting, typing, and using computers. By simply massaging the hands, it can release some of this tension.
When you have completed this process. Just rest and notice the sensations of your body. Receive whatever relaxation or shifts might come.
(pause)
There is no "right" or "good" way you are supposed to feel. Just allow whatever comes.
Repeat as you would like.
Somatic relaxation, and our body touching our body, is a way to nourish our relationship with the mossrock field. We are not in this field, our body is this field. We are a naturally a fold of living mossrock. Our body is a teacher.
